By enabling devices, objects and systems to communicate and collaborate intelligently, Next Generation Internet of Things (NG-IoT) hold the promise of revolutionizing sectors such as healthcare, transportation, agriculture, manufacturing and smart cities. As they lead to increased efficiency, productivity and convenience in our daily lives, NG-IoT are heavily relied upon reliable and in some cases high-capacity communication. Next generation wireless networks (5G and beyond) aspire to solve many connectivity concerns related to capacity, delay and reliability between devices and systems through re-architecting how telecommunication operators build and manage the available spectrum and the infrastructure. In this talk, we discuss on key innovation technologies and application scenarios of 5G-based NG-IoT in modern society, while presenting the key outputs and results of three related European projects: TERMINET: NexT GEneRation SMart INterconnectEd IoT (957406), TALON: Autonomous and Self-organized Artificial Intelligent Orchestrator for a Greener Industry 4.0 (101070181) and NANCY: An Artificial Intelligent Aided Unified Network for Secure Beyond 5G Long Term Evolution (101096456).
